PAX owns majority of its stations.
As for NBC, ABC, CBS, FOX they make much revenue in local advertising along with national advertising. Its a great combination they've got going. The PAX stations dont make nearly any revenue when you compare PAX 61 to ABC 6. The networks also have network affiliation agreements, and the networks have a 35% cap that they cant reach over 35% of the nation's TV HH through their own owned stations. So there are station groups like Hearst Argyle, Clear Channel, Belo, Sinclair, Young Broadcasting, Emmis Broadcasting, Quorom Broadcasting, Gray Communications with stations carrying network programs. They are affiliated stations.
I believe Viacom (owner of CBS) and FOX are slightly over the cap. What I dont get is if PAX is considered a Network now, how come the ownership caps arent being applied to PAX? With Univision, I do know Entravision owns or operates many Univision stations. NBC and PAX are binded together though, I believe NBC has a 32% stake in PAX. PAX was upset that NBC acquired Telemundo because then NBC couldnt acquire PAX (what PAX wanted).
The only reason national Univision wasnt dropped was because UNI never gave DirecTV an indication that they wouldnt request mustcarry to keep the national feed carried (what PAX did). Also Echostar and Hughes want to push forward the merger for Hispanic viewers so wouldnt do anything to disrupt their services.
