DIRECTV is rebranding its pay-per-view options as "DIRECTV Cinema."

If you take a look here:

https://www.directv.com/DTVAPP/listing/ppvMovies.jsp

You'll see that Seven Pounds, premiering this week, has a little logo identifying it as "DIRECTV Cinema."

This is DIRECTV's new branding for all Pay-Per-View movies. As far as I know it's a name change; policies will not change.

What would be nice if Direc** would offer in there cinema would be what some of the hotels does is be able to watch movies that is out in theaters now or in between theater and dvd.I have rented movies in hotels thats was still in the theater and I thought it was awsome.Having said that the rental price was higher (ex. $10.99) but it would be cool to stay at home and watch than spend the gas and 3 to 4 movie ticket prices . But it just a thought maybe one day we can do that. Any Thoughts?

Me too. I have a 2 year old. We can't even watch an hour of CSI in one night, let alone a 2 hour movie!

Please give us 7 days!
Good to see we are not the only ones. We have a 8 year old (in multiple sports) and 2 year old and my wife works 12 hour shifts as a nurse switching between days and nights regularly so it can easily be a week before we are able to watch a 2 hour long movie together. Sometimes we'll start it but one of us starts falling asleep and it will be another 4 days before we get another chance to sit down and watch it together again.

I will never buy a movie through DirecTV until the movie studios lift the 24 hour expiration.

Does this mean they're going to start charging $5.00 to eat popcorn during the movie?
That would be for a small, large $7.50 but sometimes they might offer a popcorn soft drink combo.

I do like the name Cinema, much better for marketing.

If they can offer a cinema-like experience, the name change will be a positive. But I learned a long time ago in my career as a marketing consultant that you'd better be prepared to deliver on all the implications of a name change, or it will bite you where it hurts the most!

Call it whatever you want - I won't be using it with the 24 hour rule.

Until they're able to cut a deal with Hollywood and change the 24-hr viewing rules, I doubt I'll be using it, even with the new name.
Same here. Actually, after spending a winter as a full-time swim parent, there was very little time to watch movies. So there were no rentals from BB or D*.

So what happened is that now the movies I wanted to rent, are now on HBO/Starz so I can now record them and watch them as my schedule allows. If you can go 3-4 months after DVD/PPV release, then you have it made.
