This past weekend, Philly MPEG4 CBS looked great for both college and pro football. The 8mm effect appears to be gone. NBC still looks bad, but perhaps this means that will be fixed soon.

Maybe they can move on to fixing the effect on San Diego's CBS MPEG4.

A couple of us in the Boston area think that CBS is fixed here too.

1 down 1 to go. I noticed the CBS fix too the other day and I've been happy with it. Once NBC gets fixed, I don't CARE if they enable OTA. The only channels I can get in HD OTA D* already has. My antenna will simply become a "Rats, it's raining....let me see if I can get a signal on the antenna" tool.

FWIW, I'm not able to notice any difference between OTA and D* on CBS on my 42" TV. How about your 60" people?

NBC here in Cleveland looks much improved. Our CBS and our local HD RSN channel still has the stuttering 8mm effect to it (Does not matter if the programming is Sports Time Ohio at 1080i or Fox Sports Ohio at 720p there is still that stuttering). Glad to know though that they are actively working on fixing these for us all!!

I'm not exactly sure what the 8mm effect is; but if means the video looks like stop-action motion (think 1930's King Kong), then the Baltimore CBS station is pretty bad. Watching the same game highlights on ESPN HD was much better.

If fox sports is 720P you should not have the problem. As far as I know the 8 mm only affected 1080i broadcasts on CBS and NBC.There have been different problems on some ABC stations known as the green glitch where the screen pixelates for 5-15 seconds and either partially or completely breaks up into green pxel patches but Audio seems okay.
