Last Night I was playing around with my antenna and did a channel search and it came up with a new channel though it was nbc it had two subchannels with it which I thought was cool. Where I Live KFOR is the NBC channel you receive. Now i can get KTEN which is about 100 miles away it has a CW subchannel and weather coverage subchannel. Also what was funny is I still cant get the ABC(KOCO) ota which is about 40 miles away. Anyone else have this happen.

go to tvfool.com and enter your info. it will tell you where the towers are to point your antenna.

Makes a little more since now but not much more. KOCO is broadcasted on the VHF Hi which is about a -75 db. The KTEN is broadcasted on UHF side which is at -120db. I'm guessing that it is harder to receive VHF HI than UHF. Still so confusing.

Which antenna are you using? What are the coordinates for the broadcasting towers? You may be using a very directional antenna which is not pointed in the correct direction to pick up KOCO. Also, some combo antennas have much lower gain for channel 7 and 8 versus higher gain on vhf for the upper channels. What is the channel number for KOCO?

Here are the files the first is pre Feb 19. Second is post Feb. 19.
All I use is an indoor 50+ db gain antenna.

KOCO is channel 5
KOCO digital is RF channel 7.

See, how they are planning to increase their power by the analog cut-off? So, this may take care if itself, in time.

You need an antenna that also receives VHF Hi (ch 7-13). If you put one in the attic or outside, even better.

Do you have a VHF...UHF...or VHF/UHF antenna now?

Then when KOCO goes "full power" on channel 7 the problem may just take care of itself. (According to tvfool.com they are only 3.14kW now, and will be at 48kW by Feb 18, 2009.)

You can call the Chief Engineer at KOCO and verify how much power they are broadcasting on channel 7 now, and ask when they'll be at full power.

If you want to watch them right now OTA, you'll need a better antenna. A modest UHF/VHF High antenna in the attic or outside will provide fade-free TV. Which you'll probably appreciate during storm season. :)

I think you would be better off with this outdoor antenna. http://www.solidsignal.com/prod_display.asp?PROD=ANCM3018 Its a Channel Master 3018.

If he's getting everything but KOCO now, he doesn't need that much "horsepower".

A modest UHF/VHF Hi only antenna would be easier to install (smaller).
I looked for smaller antenna's and they were all really low on the range or mileage. I think with the one I listed it will do everything great. The price was like $55 which is probably about what he paid for the other indoor one he listed. If you are going to spend the same amout of money I would reccommend the channel Master before the indoor one that leaves you one channel short.

Sure it will...but having VHF Low is overkill. He doesn't need it.

The increased size of the elements required for VHF Low, makes it larger. That may limit the ease of installation unnecessarily.

I think you are missing my point. I would get a channel master antenna. I looked at a bunch of them that had UHF and VHF. They also had to have at least 40 mile range for both VHF and UHF. With that in mind the one I found that is the cheapest was the one I posted. You could mess around and get a smaller one but if you want to be sure to get what you need and for only $55 then go with the one I posted.
