Picture glitches on MPEG4 ESPNHD and ESPN2HD

I know there were threads on this before. Why can't D* fix this? Don't they monoitor the channels. I can't believe that some people claim they do not see it. These glitches are not my equipment, they are in the signal. MPEG2 versions do not have it. You can go back on DVR and see the same glitch. These glitches are not like stuttering, they look like dropped frame or momentary freeze.

Please do not bring up stuttering on other channels as they are totally different issue from this.

Please, can somebody at D* look into this and fix this.

No, it is not your equipment. There was already a dedicated thread on this issue and theres plenty of evidence in that thread that it isnt our equipment. It is a D* issue all the way. No ifs, ands, or buts about it.

I emailed D* about it numerous times. They acted like I was crazy, of course, totally predictable. Im so sick of this problem Ive resorted to watching the bitstarved/marcroblocking MPEG-2 versions.

Alot of people are going to have to start emailing D* about this issue before it gets fixed. Even then I would doubt it gets fixed, we are talking about Directv after all. Fixing things is a hardly a priority for them. They are way better at pretending issues dont exist than they are at fixing them.
I watched the Cowboys whip the Eagles last night on ESPN HD (206) and saw absolutely no picture issues during the entire game. I even thought to myself, "looks like D* finally fixed the problems they were having with the 1 sec black screens", etc. Looked 100% perfect on my end and I watched the entire game.

Maybe the glitches were indeed on your end. Not sure why I saw perfect HD (no glitches b/w 8:30pm and midnight), but you had problems.

I had the same issues last night.

The glitches are there. Just look closely. They basically look like momentary freezes in picture. They are especially visible on the bottom score ticker. They don't happen frequently now.

Not sure how you can be so sure that everyone is having the issue. I watched the whole Cowboys game as well on 206, w/o noticing any "glitches". I turned on College Football Live right now and it looks perfect. How often are you seeing the picture freeze, every few seconds or is it minutes in between each freeze?

Last night the issues were very minimal compared to what they normally are. It was the best Ive seen since last weeks TB - Bos MLB game, where again there were very few glitches compared to normal, and the severity of the glitches that did occur were much less dramatic than usual.

There was still some very slight glitching going on last night, so slight that I can see how it could go unnoticed.

It does seem like maybe they have realized theres a problem and are working on it. We will see I guess. Maybe miracles really do happen.

First time checking on this. I've had major issues with ESPN HD for about a month now. Same problems last night. Even got checking for satellite 771 message at some points. All other HDs work fine.

What youre describing sounds like more of a signal issue to me. The problem being discussed here is slight (less than a second) video interruptions that happen every couple minutes.

What are your current signal strenghts on the 99(c) satt?

I'm not sure if we were watching the same Cowboys game, but I was watching a close back and forth high scoring battle. That made it an excellent game to watch, for someone like me that didn't care who won.
I had no picture issues either... And I watch closely.

With that said, in general, I think ESPN has issues once in a while, but very rarley, and I don't think they are on our end or Directvs... I think they come from ESPN...
I watched college football all day Saturday and didn't notice any problems at all. I know some NASCAR races have issues with RF cameras.
the only issue that espnhd has on my TV is that DAMN WHITE HOT LOGO IN THE LOWER RIGHT CORNER CAUSING IR ON MY PLASMA TV...i cannot believe that after 3 years of watching espnhd that they STILL have the EXACT same screen setup..come on ESPN, youre worth about a BILLION dollars, act like a female and change things up just for the hell of it!!! how about maybe..GASP.. an OPAQUE logo?? ya think? kind of like when showing a pro football or basketball game and you get rid of the stupid ticker and use an opaque logo??? and we dont ALWAYS need the stupid sports ticker...why not just save that for ESPN2 just like you used to???

 ok end of rant....
You guys wanna know something really weird about this issue?

I was watching the ESPN via OTA (one of the national network channels, I think it is ABC?, is carrying the ESPN feed) and it was doing the same thing I have noticed, same glitches and issues.

Seems like it is an ESPN issue.
