I'm trying to find out if anyone else is having the same problem I'm having with the HR20. I've seen a few posts that sound like what I'm experiencing, but I'm not sure.

I see quite a few posts about "freezing", but in my case, it's a hard lockup on the HR20.

This has happened in two different scenarios, though only once in the one scenario.

scenario 1: go to MyVOD, click on a program to play. Complete lockup of the box (does not respond to any remote commands or front button pushes).

scenario 2: randomly, in the middle of a program, the unit will hang. If I try to fast forward past it, the box locks up entirely. If I pause and delete the show, the unit is fine. If I reset the box, then try to view the program again, it locks the box up in the SAME point in the recorded program.

Is anyone else having this complete lockup problem requiring a reset?

I will throw the cavet on there.

If you have had a Lockup Problem..... is it still occuring after YESTERDAY's 0xDC software release.

Also the FF Loop Frame is not a system lockup, even though it appears as so. You need to just hit the 30s SLIP button to get past it.

I have had my HR20 completely lockup around 5 times ever since I got it a month ago, but it hasn't crashed on me at all with these last 2 updates.

I had one complete lockup last week as a result of rain fade. It kept trying to lock onto ch. 86 to record "The Nine" and eventually locked up in the process. 1 other time I had to do a reset because a couple of recordings wouldn't play and everything seemed to be heading down hill so I figured I'd just reset and start fresh (which worked, by the way). No problems since the last update.

Is the poll at the top for any lockup at all, or just since the 0xDC update?
I added the poll, but did it on the basis of the OP's start.

I personally am more intrested in what the numbers are like POST release.
As pretty much this will be close to 100% yes, if you include all the previous releases...

Earl - agreed, since we are all (or should be) on 0xDC at this point, let's make this poll for lockups encountered ONLY for recordings and viewings on 0xDC. That is, recordings on 0xD8 and prior do NOT count.

I don't believe I've had a lockup since 0xDC. The Oprah recording that locked up on my wife was from Tuesday so that doesn't count.

Did you guys know what you were doing on the HR20 right before it locked up? If so, did you post it in the 0xDC release thread?

Can both of you give a little background on what you where doing with the system at the time of the lockup?

Watching live buffer? Watching a Recording?
TrickPlay? Scheduling Programs, Searching, Paging through the guide?
Interactive?

Earl, you may want to update the thread title if you only want answers post-OxDC update as I (and I'm sure others) voted before reading the thread. I've only had the HR20 post-OxDC, so I voted no. But others may vote before they see that the poll is based on the time after the DC update.

So done... if anyone voted, with regards to previous versions... let me know and I will adjust the count

Of course, as time goes by, they will have more and more opportunities to lock up.

Probably they all will, eventually, but mine (which locked up about once a week prior to yesterday) has not locked up yet, or had any other problems.

I have crashed 1 time on the new software, this was while watching something that was reordered under a prior version, and I have a total of 4 crashes/lockups since I first started using this box about 3 weeks ago.

As this software was just released, I think you need to give this kind of question a about a week or at least until the weekend is over when people have had a chance to run thru the paces of their normal use. Answering no right now, just means you have not crashed yet (you might not), use it normally for a few days and then see if you crash, since AFAIK there is no way to change your vote.

Mine locked up for the first time last night. It was a post 0xDC lockup on an MPEG4 recording of Friday Night Lights (a pre-0xDC recording from Tuesday). It occured after I had watched about half of the program, hit the stop button and went to live TV, and came back a few minutes later. I went to the MyVOD screen, selected the episode, which took me to the screen to select Play, and that screen locked up. A power off from the remote didn't do a thing, only a red-button reset. This was my first ever lock-up.

BTW, this FF looping and pixalation issue is VERY annoying. I sure hope the update for that comes soon!

Mine had never locked up before last night, rewinding Leno in MP4 with recording in progress. It locked up three times in succession trying to watch the recorded fragment. Guess I'll be watching MP2 until the next update. Sigh.....

regards, billb....

Never locked up until today. I came home, "powered" it on (hit pwr) and the blue lights came up, but nothing went to screen. No button pushing helped. Finally I red-button reset it.

Seems fine now. Didn't lose anything.
