When playing a recorded show, is it possible to display the buffer screen without having to pause the playback? It would be nice to be able to press a button and see how much time is remaining.

That would be neat, but pressing CANCEL on the remote will bring up the banner and the time remaining is on the lower left corner of the banner.

Have you tried pressing Play on the remote? That works with the DirecTV DVRs.

Play won't do it, but cancel or ok does.

If you press the Select or Cancel button the information banner will be displayed at the top. The amount of time remaining will be on the lower left side of the banner.

I didn't realize that, as I too was pressing pause to see how much time was left.
