Well after months of adding and re-adding the movie channels I decided to go premier.
Theese are the reasons I think Premier is the best Value for TV.

1. Movies Galore
2. Its only $45.00 more than choice extra!
3. you get more HD. More value for the HD ACCESS fee.
4. I never get to see movies in the theater and I refuse to use PPV.
5. Satellite TV is for many channels (Least thats why I got it.)
and this is the max of channels.

Speaking of Max , Cinemax will be full all out nothing but HD starting 9-1-08!
Worth the price to me.

P.S. I am in HD LOVE now lol.:hurah:

I think it's a great value, too, if you like movies, but I still dropped it a month ago.

I'm in the position right now if they were selling new Mercedes cars for $5000, I couldn't buy one.

I don't really have time to watch many movies now anyway, and I still have HDNet Movies and MGM HD so that has to take care of me for now.

In addition to the Premiere Package fee, do you still have to pay $10 for HD content and $5 for HD extra Pack?
Yes and Yes plus DVR fee if you have one.

If I was a single guy with no daughter, I'd be all over the Premier package. But life has changed a little bit over the past year. :) I grew up having all of the premium channels, but my life doesn't allow as much television viewing time as I used to have. I'd love to have the conveinence of the premiums, but we're not around our house enough to justify the extra cost. And if I'm spending the extra cash, I'd personally rather invest my money in NBA League Pass and ESPN Full Court this winter.

Actually it's a bad deal for me. $35 a month more (or whatever it is) is crazy. I can get all the same movies, quicker and better quality by spending $8-13 a month with Netflix. With that extra savings beyond that I can pay for Sunday Ticket and buy some beer every month. :)
The beer is not an option. I'd use rabbit ears before having an empty fridge. :)

I hear you about the savings with Netflix, but there's something I love about being able to watch 30 minutes of "Transformers" when I'm home for lunch or something. I don't see myself popping in a movie when I have just a short break.

For low cost, ease of use, and true on-demand movie watching, paying for a DVDs-by-mail program is the best. No doubt.

But it's the original programming (on Showtime and HBO at least) that keeps me coming back. I wouldn't want to wait for months for "Weeds" or "Dexter" or "Entourage" to come out on DVD...

I "upgraded" to premier a couple months ago in anticipation of additional movie channels in HD once D11 launched new channels. Never did I think that D* would still be in negotiations on many of these channels so as of now I'm not a happy premier subscriber. I plan on downgrading if D* does not add more premier HD channels in September. I'll head back to bluray and netflix.

I have the Premier package and a 5 at a time Netflix plan. I can not give up Netflix as I get alot of TV shows on dvd but I have to admit that I am loving having all the movie channels.

I got Premier back in October, switched to Plus HD DVR for a month in June, switched back to Premier in July, now switched back again to Plus HD DVR. Yeah, having all the movie channels was sweet but my fiance and I were hardly watching anything other than HBO or Starz. Plus, I don't like the fact of having to pay for HD and the DVR fee. I think that is bogus. So, I added HBO, Starz, and Sports Pack and now I feel okay renewing my GamePlan and NBA packages.

I don't think the savings are really that much but for us it was just unnecessary stuff. With a Netflix account, AppleTV, and the DVR there is always something to watch.

Everyone has their own take on it, and thats why they give us options :)

For me/my family the extra cost is a lot to justify and would be better spent other places. We also used to subscribe to one premium (had HBO for awhile, than starz, than showtime, etc.) but overall found it to get old after awhile and they start repeating things a lot. There are a few shows I would like to get (Weeds for example) but the extra cost is just a bit much and better spent in other places for us.

The HD extra pack on the other hand has been awesome! MGMHD, UHD, and HDNet Movies all have had a great mix that is changing and has not gotten dull yet in the 6 months we have had it.

I have had Premier for several years now (and have the grandfathered DVR). Every time I review my budget, I seriously consider dropping it and going to a lower package, with perhaps one premium package (HBO or Starz). But then I review the channels we record movies from and figure I would need to have at least 2 premium packages to give a reasonable selection. At that point, the cost savings isn't enough to justify the change.

So, if I ever do change, I'll drop Premier and have no premium/movie channels. That could happen, and not too far away. Cost of TV has just gotten too high for my budget.
