Premier Package No Longer Available

2609 Views 14 Replies 11 Participants Last post by  Grentz
I have had the premier pkg for several years. It now cost 104.99, but they billed me for DVR service this month. That was always included in the past, but a 5.99 charge as well this month plus 9.99 HD plus 4.99 HD extra plus etc...

I went to site and could not find where premier is listed except on my current setup. Has anyone else noticed this? Are all premium movie channels gonna be ala cart now?

It IS still available, but the DVR service is NO longer included as part of the package, as of about a year or two ago. Premier subs that had it previous to that were grandfathered w/free DVR service, as long as you never change your primary package from Premier. (IOW, once you get rid of it, you'll never get the free DVR back, even if you go back to Premier)

You should have not lost it - did you make some changes on your account recently? I'd be calling back & getting it put back on if not.

I activated an old HR10-250 when my old SD Tivo died...that must have done it.

I seriously could not find it at directv.com
Call them, it should not have changed for just that.

Certainly the case here.

Did you still have an active Tivo on your account or just DVR's? If you didn't have a Tivo on the account anymore they had to change the dvr code to include Tivo service. This means that you changed your package and are no longer elligible for it.

No I also have 2 HR20-100's. I called and they gave me the credits and said it would not be re billed. Thanks for the info.

:D
Jus tkeep checking. They did the same to me and I had to call them a few times to get it to stick. Evidently, all the CSRs do not know where to make the permanent change.
I am having the same issue. I turned off the HD Extra package and lost my free DVR service.

I called and someone set my free service back up. When they did that my HR20's were fine but I lost the DVR service on my old Tivo receivers. When they re-added the TIVO DVR service I was charged again.

Now I am being told that it is impossible to get the free DVR service put back onto my account.

Has anyone been able to get the free service put back on their account?

I have had CS fix the dvr charge 3 times and they were able to put the dvr service back into my premier package happened each time I added a receiver.

But last month I signed up for the go green (paperless billing auto pay etc) from directv website. I all ready had auto pay and paperless bill, I added email alerts which was supposed to give me 5 bucks off next bill. Well I guess that is considered a package change even though I did not change the package so now I am paying the 5.99 dvr service + 4.19 for a partial month.

I just called and talked to a couple cs and a supervisor she said there is absolutely no way they can put the DvR service back into my premier package. I told her thay have done it 3 other times and told her the billing dates she looked at my account and said she sees that they have done it before but said she cant do it. I was offered a year of free dvr service that I did not take yet.

I might decide to downsize my programming package and may choose a package that still includes the dvr service (Not sure if its still available?). Then the free DVR sevice for a year would be useless unless I would still get the 5.99 off my bill?

Any one no how Directv would bill me if I were to take the free dvr service for a year and if I were to downgrade my package during that time??
I 'm still not sure what I am going to do but leaning towrds getting the free dvr service for a year as the CS said she would add comments to my account for that.

I just wish Directv would have alerted me on there site that going green will increase my bill 5.99 I would not have gone green then.:nono2:

There are no current Packages that include the free DVR service.

"Choice Xtra Plus DVR" and "Choice Xtra Plus HD DVR" include DVR service in the price.

While Plus DVR and Plus HD DVR both include DVR service, it is a paid DVR service (albeit at a dollar off the regular DVR service price.) Lee L. is still correct that no DirecTV package currently has FREE DVR service.

We are mincing words here. Nothing we get is free as long as we have a monthly bill.:)

It never was "free" with Premier, just included in the base charge. As it is included in the base charge on these two packages.
Premier is still listed on the packages page:

(for those who were looking for it on the site)
