Premier Package Sunday Ticket promo

Just felt like venting a little bit.

Ok....so the guy that sits across from me at work was called by DTV. He was offered the deal where he gets the Premier Package and they throw in Sunday Ticket. His new bill....net $3 less than what he was paying. Well that guy tells me and the guy that is right next to me about it. The guy that sits right next to me calls DTV. The CSR says I know all about that deal, I do these all day. He too signs up. They even tossed in the HD package for him. No charge.
So both of these guys combined have a far lower monthly payment than I do and combined they haven't been with DTV for anywhere near as long as me. So silly me, I think, I'll call too and get the deal. When I call I get an extremely rude CSR who says that there is no such deal. I tell her about my 2 coworkers and how I am looking at the guys DTV My account screen right next to me. I see the deal right in front of my face. She says that is only for new customers. She was being very arrogant....I ask to transfer to retention....she proceeds to hang up on me.

Grrrr....I am a very calm person and must admit that this got me a bit worked up. So I call back, again calm...it wasn't the new CSR's fault.
So, I go through the spiel again. She also tells me...nope only for new subs....I tell her that I am looking at the guys screen right next to me. She asks for his name and number to look up his account.
I give her this info and she proceeds to put me on hold for 18 minutes. (I have a timer on my phone)
When she comes back, she tells me she can't give me that deal. I ask about why my coworkers got that deal and she says "Sorry can't discuss other users accounts" Well, why on earth did you ask me for his name and phone number when you can't discuss other accounts?
I was really polite to her and I guess she caved a bit. She came back with:
Upgrade to premier at no charge for 3 months
Sunday Ticket and SuperFan for $289
Immediate $250 credit.
Net cost $39 for ST and SF.

Fantastic deal.., but not free like my coworkers. At this point I was on the phone for over an hour and I said I'll take it.

This really bugs me about them. I don't call asking for freebies. I have 10 receivers on my account and I have been a previous Sunday Ticket subscriber for over 10 years. (Cancelled it back in March) Last year they ticked me off again because I had ST and SF. (I paid for both ful price at early bird....I didn't get SF as a freebie) while the same guy that sits next to me was called by DTV and offered ST and SF for $180 and his bill is about less than 1/3 of mine.
I know this is an incredible deal. Alone I'd never expect such an incredible price...but, they offered it to the guys that sit right next to me and of course I consider myself a better account than either of them.

To top it off, I had to reboot 9 HR20/21's when I got home.

Thanks...I feel better now.

So as to clear up your confusion....."I have previously not called for freebies." I hope this clears things up for you.
Glad you were able to get some kind of a deal from them. Most on here just keep calling until they get someone that can help them with what ever the current deal is.

Thanks.....my biggest issue wasn't that my coworkers got the deal and I didn't. What bugged me the most was that the CSR's were flat out lying to me about that deal while I am sitting at my desk looking at my coworkers account.
I'd prefer if they gave me some line such as "Our systems go through and preselect customers for those promotions and that's why we can't give it to you"
IMO I am the kind of customer that they want to keep. I rarely call them, I pay a big fat monthly bill and I support my own hardware (except receivers that die, that's why I have the protection plan). I had even paid a 3rd party recently to tweak my dish. I have even sent at least 10 customers to them. Actually, at the moment I have $20 in credits for the next 4 months because of 2 friend referrals.
Why didn't you just keep the CSR on the phone when your buddy called and got the deal for yourself as well? :)

Had I known what I was in for, I would have done that. Though I think I was also on a conference call at the time and couldn't call.
