Premier Package - What's Included?

1628 Views 7 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  lparsons21
I currently have the the (legacy?) Choice Xtra + HD DVR package with 3 HR2X receivers. The price for the package is 86.99. Additionally, I am charged 3.00 (whole home), 5.99 (protection plan), 6.00 (additional receiver), 6.00 (additional receiver) and 45.00 for HBO, STARZ!, SHOWTIME, & CINEMAX.

There also is a charge and corresponding credit for the primary TV.

With tax, this comes to $163.24.

Browsing the DTV site today, it looks like I can get the Premier Package for 119.99 per month (plus ~ 8.23 in taxes), or a total of 128.22. I then have to add the extra receivers for 12.82 ([6.00+.41]*2), the whole home for 3.20 (3.00 + .20) and the protection plan for 5.99 (no tax) (unless some or all of these are included). This totals 150.23.

This is a difference of 13.01 per month. The question is, am I including everything that I will get charged for? Is HD DVR included? Is there some sort of HD Access fee that I will be charged (I am on autopay)? Anything else I am missing? (The "Here are the similar threads we found" feature on the posting page (which is really helpful) only has treads from 2007-2011, so nothing recent.)

Maybe someone has 3 HR2x, the premier package and the protection plan and can let me know what they pay?

The premier package seems to include everything I currently have, plus comes with the sports channels (which I may or may not ever watch).

I cannot find this information on the DTV site. For some reason I thought they used to do a visual comparison of the package prices (comparing your current and new), but I can't locate it.

Thanks in advance.

Re the above, I don't have whole home dvr. Do have Sunday Ticket and HD Extra Pack. Two HR2x HD DVR, one HD non-DVR, one SD non-DVR box. Seems to me my usual non-Sunday Ticket with no PPV monthly is in the $16x range, but I couldn't find one in my recent email (must have deleted them). You seem to have one more HD DVR, but one less total TV, so you'd add (I think) $8 for the additional HD DVR but subtract $6 for one less TV.
Thanks georule.

Looks like:

212.96 (your total) - 39.99 (NFLST) - 6.00 (extra receiver) - 3.15 (approx tax on NFLST and extra receiver) = 163.81

Only a slight difference from what I am paying now. Sports channels basically free.

EDIT: Since you don't have WHDVR, it is probably a few dollars more.

Your $163.81 price assumes you would also get the $10 free HD credit that is hard to come by these days.

In the end, since the sports channels are not of great importance, I probably should just stand pat.

Thanks,
That has been basically my understanding of how it is structured --if you care about the sports pack channels, then you get it "for free" with Premiere compared to the unbundled prices.
If you make the switch you lose the grandfathered package forever.

If the Sports package is of little to no interest, I would agree with others, keep what you have as long as you can.
