Be careful to check for the ongoing price after the promotion period ends. When you visit the web site as a new/non customer, you are presented with all of the discounted prices.

I went through this a while back when I was looking at upgrading to premier. I found very little difference at all. In other words, I could add the premium packages, etc., or go to the HD DVR package as opposed to doing it separately, and the difference in these things was like $1-$2. WOW, THANK YOU SO MUCH DIRECTV FOR GIVING ME SUCH A HUGE INCENTIVE TO UPGRADE AND GIVE YOU MORE MONEY EVERY MONTH. There, I got it off my chest. I was very angry at the time and emailed Directv about it. Got back their standard form letter to every question someone asks.
