Just wanted to get a picture of how many of us are now deleting SL's to add new ones. Back when the last poll was taken I had not yet hit the limit. Now I have to write down the shows that are coming back in 2009 according to Futon to make room for things I want to record now.
Maybe we can give a good representation of how many users are now being restrained by this limit of 50.

I voted "No - but getting close". We record 66 shows on two DVRs. We would certainly hit the 2 tuner limit a long time before we'd hit the 50 Series Link limit. It seems that most of the shows are in the 7PM to 11PM timeslot.

I've hit it quite a few times (right now I have 49) and it is a bit annoying. And that doesn't even count the 22 SL's that are on the kids unit (10 or so of which are actually our overflow shows).

No, I tend to add and remove Series links depending on the season (to negate issues with rerun marathons, etc.) and usually only have around 25-35 total.

Same on the Tivo, cause the Tivo got horribly slow with more than about 40.

I have to do that occasionally now with the 50 limit. The problem is that sometimes I forget to re-add them and miss the premiere episode. Much nicer to just have them there waiting. Since almost all of my SL's are "first run only", I don't have a problem with rerun marathon's and the HR2X's don't get slower based on the number of SL's (at least up to 50)

Intersting results so far...only 1/3 of the voters indicate its any kind of issue...thought it would be the opposite results. While its not a problem here, I know others have been discussing this for some time.

That's because honestly it's not a problem for many if not most people. Like I said above, I'm not close but I do wish the limit would be increased or lifted. But if most of their customers don't come close to the limit then you can see part of the reason why it's never been increased.

I don't hit the limit because I have 4 total DVRs. Balance is key to life.

It is aggravating! :(

I never thought I would ever have to worry about a 50 SL limit. I was wrong.

We have SL's for these kinds of channels:

Networks
HIST/DISC/TLC/SCI Channels
HBO
SCIFI
USA

Nothing big you say....

Well some of these channels have split seasons.
Some have shows that air in the summer when the networks are off.
My wife watches GH.
My daughter watches ANIME and other shows that we don't.
We have several shows that we have a SL for that we just watch certain episodes. We look through the 'TODO' list to pick-n-choose(e.g. FoodTV or a series where we missed a few episodes).

I was kinda surprised how quickly SL's can add up. We are now pushing the limit (amazing how I'm the one who has to give something up...2 Women - Me...and I always seem to lose).

At any given point in time we aren't using all of the SL's but they come and go with the time of year.

I believe the Tibber put it best....It was an arbitrary number that "seemed like it should be enough.

All you need is a few people in the house with their own shows to watch, the common ones everyone whatches, the ones that come at certain times of the year........

It's not like we do nothing but watch TV. Between everyone few hrs a day(including personal SL's). We never get to the point where we are worried about space on the drive even if we don't watch for a couple of days(mostly during the summer)...AND YET we seem to hitting the limit.

I have found that I have to manually tweak my series links routinely, simply to ensure both available tuners are being used optimally and that I don't miss more important shows in favor of less important shows. This has become increasingly important with "summer seasons" and short-run shows coming on at the same time as reruns of our regular faves (which we still watch to fill out the evening times). Since we have to move priorities up and down every couple weeks anyway, we just prune old shows and add new ones as they come on.

Everyone is just too hung up on the whole issue, it seems to me.
