Hey guys,

Just bought a new Sony LCD....KDL-42v4100. Looks damn nice on HD! Having a problem with the SD only movie channels though.

I posted this over at the AVS Forum under the Sony xxv4100 thread also. Haven't seen anything yet so I thought I'd post here too. When I watch any of the SD feed movie channels, I randomly see a jitter in movement...for the lack of a better word, it looks like the video skips a frame. Smooth movement, then a blip. Barely noticeable..."Did I just see something?" Kinda how an old .MPG movie file looked on a 486 computer running Windows 95. (How's that? ) Anyway, I've verified that it's only happening on the premium movie channels. All other SD channels are fine. I've also verified this on my 50" SXRD rear projection....it's fine.

What do you guys think? I'm running an HR20-100 with a wall-fished 25' HDMI cable. Last night I switched inputs on my setup and ran it over component and it does the same. I'm figurin' that it's something with the source and not the new TV since its just certain channels...agree? I should also point out that I haven't done much picture adjustment yet other than the basics.

Help! Thanks!

Wow...37 views and no takers? Must be uncharted territory. Or is a possible solution that obvious and I don't see it?

Guess I could switch receivers with the SXRD down in Man's Land to see if it does it on that one.....zeroing in on whether it's the box or not....

I guess I won't have this problem when Direct TV offers all of the movie channels in HD!

Plus it's my better half's TV.......my TV's fine!

Well, after 122 views and only one response, I guess you guys are dying to hear what the cause was!

Hey VOS,

I turned off both noise reduction settings for the HDMI input on the TV and toned down the sharpness a bit and it disappeared. Evidently the noise reduction was overkilling the signal? Don't know....back to being pretty happy with the purchase!

I’ve found that on my TV, (Panasonic th50PZ77U plasma) that the picture looks better with all those fancy noise reduction and mosquito filters turned off. My guess is that they might be useful for crappy static-laden cable or ATSC OTA signals, but for D*’s digital signal, either HD or SD, they aren’t needed.

Yep, a member over at the AVSForum said the same thing. The less processing, the better. That'll be another one to add to my list of HDTV do's and don't's

Glad you figured it out. Not having the same TV, I had nothing to offer for help.

That's OK. After the first few hours went by, I figured it was something that wasn't too common...or that a lot of people had seen.
