Things have been great for the last couple years until this week. Now, I'm getting all sorts of guide problems. The rx sits there saying "acquiring guide data" and never succeeds. Signals appear good - xponder levels in the mid to high 80's and into the 90's with the odd one at maybe 77. But, satellite setup says it can't find a signal (so how can the xponders test okay yet there be no signal?)

Please help!

Dish is a slimline 5 and rx is an hr22-100.

Well then I'm stumped. I've pulled the plug and will let it sit for a bit. The unit has been locking up quite a bit recently which has made me wonder if it's on the fritz. Anything else could make it not download guide data?

Nothing happened after pulling the plug. Took the rx to my Mum's and plugged it into her working dish (same as mine). Same problem. Plugged her rx back in and it booted up just fine. Hers is also an hr22 and it booted in less than half the time. Thoughts?

Rats, was hoping for better news. Funny thing is, when I got home and plugged it in, it downloaded the guide data. Trickplay is almost useless on live tv however - won't skip back more than a few ms at a time and puts long pauses around each skip.

So, as a last-ditch effort before making the call, I did a Reset Everything (from the standard menu). Wiped the settings and all saved programs (sniff). It seems to be working a little better now - I'm wondering, is it possible that, after three years, the disk has become so badly fragmented that the unit became unusable? Is this the only way to wipe the drive or is there an alternative method to really wipe it / format it, etc?
