I have had my HR20 unplugged for about 4-5 days while I painted the room it was in. Now that it's back, I've had some issues with the channels in the 70s-80s (Universal HD, HBOHD, etc.) They get blocky, the audio cuts out and sometimes I get a cross feed (not sure if that is the right term, but I've seen MSNBC bleeding into one of the channels. The weather was bad for a day or so, so I thought maybe that was it, but ALL other channels, including the MPEG4 HD locals are coming in fine. So I'm purplexed. Any suggestions?

The channels your having troubles with seem to come from the 110 SAT. What's the power you're getting on the transponders?

I did get a couple of bad records on HDNetMovies yesterday.
Specifically Major League, many drop outs, haven't checked Close Encounters yet.
Major League was around Noon EST

Are you going threw a multiswitch other than the one built into the LNB?

Also, is this the only receiver you have or can you swap them around?
To point one, I have no idea. When I got the HR20 they put up a new 5LNB dish so I'm not sure what they did there. They did leave my old dish on the roof so my thought is my other boxes, all SD boxes (2 S2 Tivos and 2 H10s) are going through a multiswitch off the old dish, while my HR20, my only HD box, is going through the new box (and probably without a multiswitch, but I don't know).

Is that correct for the 110 satellite, 3 transponders and a signal in the high 90s?

I also thought maybe I got paint on the terminals and that could be causing the issue, but everything else seems to be coming in ok, including the MPEG4 local feeds and all the SD channels, plus the signal seems strong, so I think I've ruled that out.

I think that is right for 110, I'm not home right now so I can't confirm it..

Is there anyway you can swap this receiver with another receiver to check if 110
looks any better?

To me it sounds like the cable that is feeding your HR20 is either bad or the port on
the multiswitch/LNB is bad.

Your three transponders & power seem correct. You do seem to have a strange problem & if you think there is paint on a connector(s), I would make sure to remove it. RF can be very funny and clean, tight cables is almost a must. I can understand the poor picture [low/poor signal], but the "crosstalk" is a new one.

Unfortunately no, I don't have another HD capable receiver, so I wouldn't be able to check those channels. The thing is, these are the same cables I have been using since I got my first TiVo box a few years ago, and they worked fine, until I pulled the box for a few days to do my painting. I'll try swapping the cable and see if that makes a difference and I'll try cleaning the coax connecters on the wall.

The "crosstalk" is strange. Also, when the signal starts to go I get the
"looking for signal error 771 (I think that's the error #, but I'm not home to check) in a blue box in the lower right corner of my screen.

Well, you mentioned bad weather. There is a multiswitch in the LNB. It is possible the LNB got damaged and it is causing the problem.

When I said swap it, I meant just take your HR20 to another place where one of
your SD receivers is plugged in, and attach the coax there. This is assuming that
the SD receivers are connected to a DISH that gets the 110 sat.

771 is the loss of signal [low or poor]. Just for an update, this worked fine before you "painted" your room right? If so logic would have me look at what has changed [i.e. the paint, cabling, setup] to find the problem. You do seem to have a signal problem & paint on/in a connector isn't a good thing.

His old dish would have to be a 3LNB.
