So my 9th day of a PTAT recorded show is tomorrow. I have the Hopper set to 'Save Series' - one of the options available when you select the show in the recordings area.

Will my show stay or will it go? Does the SAVE override the PTAT 8 day save?

If you selected save series, then after the 8 (sometimes 9) days it should disappear from the PTAT area but leave the recording on your DVR and leave the thumbnail on the My Recordings screen.

That's how it is supposed to work anyway.

Unless it has changed, I believe that you can't send a recording to an EHD until it is gone from the PTAT list. (Unless it was a recording from another tuner created by unskipping the timer, skipped for PTAT, on the daily schedule.)

Having just gotten Hopper, if you save series from PTAT, does that mean that Hopper will save all future episodes of the series recorded from PTAT to the DVR or just the ones that were there when you "Save Series"

In other words, do i need to continue to "Save Series" in order to not lose my PTAT recordings?

It will set a series timer and record everything in the future.
