So C31 owners w/HR2x, which group are you in?

  • I can Play All HR34 & HR2x Recordings.

This POLL is only for C31 owners with a HR2x in their Whole Home Network.

The C31 is supposed to be able to play all recordings found in the HR34 All Playlist.

Some members here are reporting that their C31 can only play recordings HR34 in found in the HR34 Local Playlist.

So C31 owners w/HR2x, which group are you in.

  • I can Play HR34 & HR2x Recordings.
  • I can Play Only HR34 Local Recordings.

Please list your software versions for all hardware,

I can only see recording that are on the HR-34

I have an HR-23 and from the C31 cannot see/play the HR-23 recordings

I do have Whole Home Activated on my account

Sofware Version 0x5cd on the HR-34

Software Version 0x6f8 on two of the C31's I did not run upstairs to check the version on the remaining C31 I assume it is the same But have not verified software version.

My HR34 SW V. 0x5cd also. I can't find my c31 SW version. it isn't in the info screen like my DVRs. Where do I find it?

Also, I did a receiver test on my c31 and it came back with a phone error (ok cuz I don't have it hooked up) and also a network error mentioning if I am having issues playing back recordings to call directv. Everything seems fine on my system though, other than the c31's not seeing my HR24 thru the 34.

I went and checked my HR24's info screen and it's showing a 192.168.x.x IP address. Should it be the internal network IP of 169.254.x.x?

To check the SW version on the C31 clients press the Orange "Select" button and hold it for approx 15 seconds and then release.

It will then display the Information Screen for the C31

I don't have any problem seeing/watching HR24 recordings. All of my devices (including the C31) have a DHCP-assigned home network IP address (I assume the 192.168.x.x in your case). In addition to a DHCP-assigned address, the C31 Information Screen also shows two 169.254.x.x addresses-One for the C31 and one for the HR34.

Not sure whether any of this is significant but IP addresses in the 169.254.x.x range are auto-assigned and termed "link-local" or "AutoIP". I don't know whether they are used for client/server communication between the C31 and HR34. Also, all of my devices are DECA-connected.

If your system is connected to the Internet all units will have a regular IP address for your network. However if you have an HR34 an c31s too they all get a second additional IP address labels link local and is a 169 address.

Thanks again guys! Once I was able to see the info screen with that in there I deduced the same thing.

I also noticed something new that may be related and part of the issue. When I first had the H25s i saw the new "Genie Recommends" feature in the menu. I ignored it for a bit then figured I'd try it. I went to the menu and selected it but got a weird dark grey screen with an error message saying "1998 (TVSHOWS) not available" or something like that. Sorry I'm not home and can't check. Now after I got the c31's and this problem the Big Genie Recommends menu button isn't even there to select anymore.
