If I only will will have one genie with no genie mini clients, will I required to hook up the genie to my internet connection?

No. Even with the C31 clients, no internet connection is "required". The Genie network works just fine without an internet connection, using the satellite coax as their own special network.

Thanks, after doing so research it appears that the only function of the ethernet connection is for on demand and pay per view. Is this correct?

And Pandora, YouTube, the iPad app. It's not required for PPV, you can order online or over the phone. Either an Internet connection or phone line is needed for remote control PPV ordering.

"Internet" connection provides those features. Ethernet just refers to your home network, as in "ethernet cable".

If you're an existing customer you will be required to get a CCK or WHDVR if you order a Genie in most cases now.
