question about install
Hi guys,
I just installed my HR20 yesterday, when I opened the box there were 2 little converter things. I put each one on sat1 and 2. I am currently using my 3LNB until this weekend when I go up and put up the 5. Do I need these little guys on at all times?

The frequency scheme on some transponders/sats. It won't affect existing customers (it will be backward compatible for some time), but new sats and perhaps hd locals may require them. In other words, they don't break anything, but will allow some new frequencies to be used that were not being used before (hence: band converters).asousa said:thanks.... what is going to change next year that will make them needed?
Someone posted a link that explained it all in great detail, but I didn't save it.
The DIRECTV installer training video says to put them on now so I put mine on and I won't have to wonder about when they actually need to be put on.
