I was wondering if theres a HD DVR unit that can pause tv on tuner #1, then switch to tuner #2, and watch something else. Then switch back to tuner #1 and it will still be paused?

People I have talked to at DIrect TV, say it will not stay paused. However the current Tivo Recevier we have now will do this, but it is not HD.

If this is the case with all new HD DVRs, WHY did they change this??, it seems like its a step BACKWARD??

Just the HR10-250

The new HR20 does not have dual-buffers.
The HR20 is not a TiVo powered unit, it was built new... and they decided at the time to go with a single larger buffer, instead of two buffers.

However, they are still considering bring dual buffers to the HR20
But no decisions have been made yet.

I believe a workaround for the HR20 would be to record both tuners. Then play from the list.

Even with one live tuner, it would be nice to be able to pause Live TV and watch a recorded show. Then jump back to Live TV at the paused location. Being able to pause Live TV while watching a recording would be a nice feature even if on one tuner.
