Question about setting up SWM/Whole home

I have 2 TVs: 1 HD DVR (HR-24), and one HD (H24) and Whole home. This is connected to a 4 way splitter (Why a 4 way when I have 2 TVS I don't know) I moved around my living room, and didn't know how to set things up again...
I'm a complete NOOB at all of this, so I don't have any fancy terms, nor do I understand them so please reply accordingly.

Aparently I can setup it up 2 different ways? 1:The main wire from the dish to the IN on the splitter, and then another wire from the RED OUT to the "power to swm" on the power supply, then from the "Signal to IRD" a wire goes to the HR-24. And then on the splitter is the other TV.

2 (which is the way I had set it up) The main wire from the Dish to the "Power to SWM" And then the "Signal to IRD" went to the RED IN on the splitter, and the two TVS connected to the splitter.

Both way's seem to work, so what's the difference? I don't remember how the installer had it. What is the "right" way of setting it up? I don't have the "CCK"

Thanks
