Question about TV Power On-Off Buttons

1093 Views 8 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  Dusty
I had to put my second HR20 to work last night because my HR10-250 went flaky yesterday. After I connected the HR20 to my Toshiba 56" TV, I am in a strange situation. When I use the TV Power On-Off switch, only the HR20 responds. My TV doesn't turn on or off. I can still control volume and mute the TV. I can even turn the TV on and off by sliding the switch to TV mode and hit the PWR button. I have tried all the code for Toshiba TV. Still the same. Any suggestions?

I have defintately noticed issues with the TV Power On/Off buttons. On my remote, the TV ON button toggles the TV on and off. The TV OFF button turns off both the TV and the HR20.

Try tv code 10765 instead of the toshiba tv codes listed, you will get the TV ON & OFF keys working, but you lose the TV input command.

It worked. As for TV input, you are right, it doesn't work with the code you supplied, even after tryin the 960 code. Would you care to explain why? Any chance to get both of them working?

Thanks!
Code 10765 is geared towards Apex & Changhong tvs. They respond to most toshiba tv code commands, but the input command for TV code 10156 is the closed captions command for the apex & Changhong sets. I own a 24" Changhong, using code 10765 gets me the ON & OFF commands, and also the input command. There isn't anything that can be done, sorry.
there are alot new toshiba codes that weren't in other remotes, try code 11656.
My worst fear was realized -- the power-on of the HR20 is NOT reliable, even with RF control -- I have myself seen, and my wife is uncannily good reproducing, where the HR20 will not go on until power-on is hit a SECOND time. When my wife does this (push power-on and the HR20 is still off) she is mystified, and pissed at me for taking away her TiVo. I find the RF fussier than IR -- If I hold the remote vertical the IR to the TV will work off the ceiling bounce, but the RF doesn't! I say again -- WHO THOUGHT HAVING IT GO OFF WITH THE TV WAS A GOOD IDEA???

It actually is a good idea when it works. When I connected my first HR20 with my newer Sammy, it worked without a hitch and I loved it. Now that I got used to it, it is unbearable without it.

I am curious where you got so much knowledge about the remote code. Is there some web site I can check? If there are other codes, I'd like to go through all of them.

I haven't tried 11656 yet. I haven't got my turn on my TV, yet.
