Installation scheduled for Monday, 6/25. Got the Retention department to give me the upgrade for nothing. But I'm so used to my system as it is now (and as it has been for the last seven years), will I be disappointed with Whole Home? Have all the kinks been worked out? Is there a learning curve, or is it pretty straightforward?

Whole Home service or the HR34 and Whole Home service?

Either way, its pretty simple. You can't setup recordings from another DVR, but a show recorded on another DVR just shows up in the list. The HR34 from a use standpoint isn't all that different unless you're using PIP and such.

Are you or will you be adding more receivers?
If not:
HR24-200 <-- needs nothing
HR23-700 <-- needs a DECA added
HR23-700 <-- needs a DECA added

Add one more DECA for internet access and this is done.

Any DVR can/will share recordings with the others, and since none of these are receivers [non DVRs] all recordings will be on the local DVR.
You can add a receiver, which is then able to setup recordings on any of these DVRs and watch the recordings.

With DECA and what you currently have, you will need a CCK to bridge between the coax network and your home network, so it sounds like it.

Not sure what you mean. Current setup: CAT5 from wireless router network to AV adapter, which is plugged into an outlet. Adapter "receiver" is plugged into an outlet near my HR24; CAT5 runs from this to my HR24. For one of my HR23s, I have a universal WiFi Internet adapter that's paired with my wireless router. My second HR23 is not connected to the Internet. Are you saying that the CCK would eliminate the need for all of this hardware, connect ALL receivers to the Internet, and link them all together? How do they run a coax near my router?

How much technical expertise does a D* installer have? I'm assuming they know what they're doing, but I want to understand it also. Is there some kind of diagram available?

D*'s wireless CCK works great! Best wireless bridge I ever had. I previous connected with a CISCO / Linksys bridge, but it was not reliable. The whole home is a great option. Best wishes.
