I have my HR20 hooked up to a DVDO VP50 via HDMI.
I am wondering how to output 480i SD material in 4:3 format so that the VP can do the stretching if I so desire. I have the TV set as 16:9, so I can only output a pillarboxed image (or a stretched or cropped). If I set TV to 4:3, then HD content gets letterboxed, so I obviously don't want to do this.
Is there a good solution? The same problem applies to SD broadcasts on HD stations, the local channels for example. Is there a way the VP can stretch the picture just to eliminate the pillarbox without elimination other portions of the image?
Otherwise I'm either stuck with a pillarboxed image, or a poorly stretched image by the HR20. Somewhat defeats the purpose of native mode.
