I just hooked up my new HR 20 DVR, I have the resolution set to native, but the receiver format indicator stays on 480p regardless of the programming. If I change to another format, it always returns to 480p with the next channel change. I would like the receiver to automatically switch between formats as I change channels. What am I missing? Any help would be appreciated.

Make sure you have all 4 resolutions selected in the setup menu for supported resolutions. it may be that all you have checked is 480p.

Thanks for your help, but I cannot find the setup screen for inputing the screen resolutions. I have been entering the set and dsiplay area, but the only choices for native is on or off.

Dale, Some of the setup screens have tabs at the top. Use the green and red buttons to switch between tabs. That's where you'll find the resolution option.

I'm not in front of my tv right now to check, but i think its under TV Type and then on the second tab that you switch with the colored buttons on the remote as mentioned above. I can double check for you when I get home If you dont find it.

I have the same problem...

Yes it is under TV Type then TV Resolutions.

I have 480p, 720p and 1080i selected

No matter what I channel I'm on it goes to 480p

I have 1080i only selected. And Native on. For me, the SD picture is much better.
