Sorry - I looked all around and couldn't find the answers to some questions. I'm sure the answers are here somewhere but I couldn't find them.

1. An HR22/AM21 combo - how many concurrent recordings from the four tuners?

I read where someone made a passing reference to "only 2 recordings at once". Is that the limit? Is there any reason to hope it will be increased to 3 or 4?

2. Is there any plan that anyone knows of to allow two or more HR22s to be networked so that any TV connected to any HR22 can watch content from any other HR22 (like the ReplayTVs did)?

I am currently a Dish subscriber. We have two VIP622s with two satellite and one ATSC tuners each. When the Dodgers and Lakers seasons overlap we tend to use all three of the tuners at once on at least one VIP622 quite often to record while watching something that's already been recorded (we almost never watch live TV). We would like to make the switch to D* but the prospect of fewer tuners might be a deal breaker for us.

Thanks.

Thanks for the replies.

You say no time frame for MRV, care to make a guess.

I know you have no way of knowing but you at least know how long ago the subject came up and maybe what the D* track record is for such things.

In the CE forum (Beta testers), it is something everyone asks for every week, it has been like that for months and months.

There really is no idea when, but Directv2PC (which allows you to play recordings on your PC from your receiver) is in a closed beta right now and many think that is going to be paving the way for MRV.

2 tuners at one time in any combination of the four.

The prevailing thought is that at some point MRV will be available. There is, unfortunately no timetable (or even a guarantee).

I can't give any estimates, but I can point to a very clear roadmap leading to MRV and what signs you might look for... :)

MRV means the HR2x has to act as both a server and a client and have some user interface to link the two together.

Media Share, especially video is the client. It plays a stream of video. And while it is beta still, it is in the National Releases.

DIRECTV2PC is the server feature. It sends a stream of video to a client. That feature is still being tested and needs to be rock solid before it can released nationally. That is one key thing to look for--its release nationally. :)

Then all that is needed is some UI to marry the server and client together inside the HR2x. :)

Cheers,
Tom

Thank you all for the detailed responses.

You say the Directv2PC beta is not taking any more participants. Dang, that would be a perfect solution for our situation.

How does one get on a particular beta test team ?
