Ok first I know movies are 24 hrs once you order then start viewing on an HD-DVR but I ordered a wrestling event last night and it says expires 1/30 which is today, but I thought you could keep events as long as you wanted to?

I've DVR'd some PPV boxing that it seemed didn't have any expiration.

All PPV events will list, prior to purchase, if they expire, and if so, when. Every movie or event can have a different expiration date, or none. This is all based on what was negotiated with the content owners; in most cases DirecTV has no control over these expiration windows.
