Was this the big update that was being talked about, or has that been broken into separate updates in the future?

Also, I've notice that the R-15's internal temperature is cooler than it use to be, was that suppose to happen?

108F Update?

What model unit do you have? And when did you first see that update

Then yes... this is the 2nd part of the big update for the R15-500's

I would expect this update to roll out over the next 2 to 3 weeks for the entire country (based on how previous updates have been done). Then they need to get the comparable update released and distributed for the R15-100 and R15-300 units.

It has taken about 2 to 3 months for this update to come out. I would not expect another update for the R15 for that long - in other words probably February or March time frame. That's only a guess, I have no idea what DirecTV is actually planning.

If this update accomplishes what it is basically intended to, basic stability and recording reliability, it will be worth it. Hopefully we will see R15 users having essentially the same operating experiences with the R15, instead of the significantly different experiences they have had in the past. Once the platform is stable and uniform, hopefully DirecTV will start looking at enhancements.

Near future? probably not.
This will probably be the last one for 2006.
