Hello,

I was wondering if there was a way to have more than 50 "season passes" on the HR21? Yes we watch a lot of tv shows.

Also sometimes when I set up a series to record it does not record the correct ones I want it to record or does not record the series. Why is this and is there a fix besides manually getting them one at a time?

We have one hr21 and a tivo hd receiver. I am not sure i want to get another hr21 because of these issues. I pretty much have to babysit the hr21 where as the tivo it records what I want it to when I want it to.

To the best of my knowledge, the 50 "season pass" limit is set in the software that the DirecTV programmers developed. There are plenty of people on this board who've been asking for it to change, but there's currently no way for a user to change it.

As for the HR20 or HR21 not recording series-recordings are reliably as TiVo--I've noticed this too. TiVo and DirecTV boxes get their guide information from the same source, but TiVo seems to make better use of the guide data. It does seem like my HR20 has been getting better about using guide data over the past year, though. Hopefully DirecTV will keep working on it.

Could you give us some examples of the series that are not recording correctly? From the way you put this above, it sounds like this is more than just issues with how it processes guide data. Is it recording incorrect series, or just incorrect episodes?

Yes it does. That does sound like the problems with it 1) having the correct guide data or 2) processing that guide data correctly.

Also, in case you weren't aware, the scheduling happens in the background. It will not show up in the todo list right away. However, if it hasn't shown up in 12-24 hours, then it probably won't.

Some programs just don't give episode specific descriptions in the guide, and none of the DVR's can process them correctly. For other shows, the HR DVRs could use a little help. There are some items in the wish list for this to be improved. If you haven't voted in the wish list yet, please do so. There's information in one of the sticky thread at the top of this forum.
