If I schedule through directv to have them install at my new place, will my local channels automatically change to correspond with the new service address(I don't want this to happen).

Or do I just not call and have them change the service address?

I used movers connection, but within the same metro area.

I would assume that any change in address would result in a change in your local channels.

It depends on how far out of the NYC market you're moving as to whether keeping your old address would be worth it. If you're not currently getting the DNS feeds, you won't magically get them where you're going.

I'm guessing that when the installer calls in the completion, the move will be executed and you'll start getting your new local stations.

Yes, It will change.

Don't be surprised if it happens on the day your put in your moving connection request as well.. When we moved to Georgia, I was not off the phone more than a few seconds before I received a message telling me I needed to purchase the Minneapolis local I was watching..

Someone smarter should chime in but doesn't it matter how far you're moving? IIRC its not as if all locals are available everywhere they are only beamed into that particular area.

peace . . .

Can anyone help me, any loopholes I can exploit, so I don't have to pay through the nose for an independent guy
DIRECTV can't know that you're lying about your service address.

90 miles in the wrong direction may well be out of the spot beam and you'll get a 771.
