Hi. I think I can do this but would like a little confirmation. We are having a little Tour De France party at a local bike shop and have a 50'' plasma rented for the gathering. Can I record the race that morning and carry the R-10 to the shop to watch that recording and others that are on the R-10 by just hooking up the audio/video cables?
A second concern I have is the quality of picture. What woud be the best picture quality, the R-10 or burning a DVD on my standard def DVD recorder from my HDDVR in the den?

Yes, you can move the R10 and still view the recordings. It will stick on trying to find the satellites on boot up, but you can just hit the menu button and get to the Now Playing List.

As far as what is the better quality, there are probably too many variables to give a concrete answer. Both the R10 and the DVD will be standard def, so it boils down to how good the SD channel carrying the race on the R10 looks, versus how good your DVD recorder does on the down-rezzed HD. I would bet the DVD might actually look better, due only to the fact that DirecTV compresses the crap out of their SD channels to the point where they look awful.
