Like most of you I absolutely hate the r15. My R10 died about 7 days ago and now.......

Among my *****es gripes and complaints are the inability to switch between tuners, no recommendations (which actually led me to some interesting shows I otherwise would have missed) and terrible guide/interface.

So it was free. So I try and deal with it.

However I have been trying to repilcate my season passes that I had on my old r-10. One happened to be the 11:00 oclock news on my local CBS affliate.

On the old r-10 it would record like clockwork. On the new r-15 it will not allow me to create a "season pass". I have gone through the guide and the search function find the show and hit the record button twice. It will only turn on and turn off the the single episode record. I cannot get it to show the Record symbol with )) after it that indicates a season pass.

Any ideas?
At first i though maybe because it was a "rerun" or because (due to sports and such) the time fluctuated. (I know I know thats the point of a season pass and a DVR). But it also seems to be refusing to allow me Season passes for shows on discovery and for my wifes shows on food network!

IOW some work (CSI, Lost.....thank god) some dont. For no rhyme or reason.

Is this the infamous flaky software? Or is there something else going on. I read the "vast" 8 page user manual they sent and I have also read the helpful information provided by you all but i have seen nothing that gives any reason for this headache.

Please let me know if any of you have suggestions. Hopefully this is just a "new user" issue.......but more likely this thing just stinks.

yes, it stinks. Have you tried a manual recording (give it a 2 hr. slot) 5 days a week? this works for me.

I don't know if that is an accurate statement. I rather like my R15's - prefer them over my Tivo (R10) by a long shot.

Got a DTivo from a seller on eBay. Deactivated the R15 today. I'm very happy.

I'll try the R15 again in a few months after y'all get a few more arrows in your backs.

I have now had my R15 for 2 weeks after going through 3 R10's. I resigned myself when the last 10 died that I would be forced to the R15 unless I wanted to buy one. The way my luck has been, I decided not to. Guess what?....I like the R15. Yes it has things that are not as good as the D TiVo, but some things are better. I have a series link for the 5 am news 5 days a week and one for the weekends and they work just fine.

Have you tried going to a different showing in the guide? Sometimes the SL info doesn't appear on every recording or the guide hasn't filled in enough to tell it that the program should have a SL. Also you can try going into the guide and selecting the show with the select button and see if it lets you over to the SL defaults for that program. It still may not work but you can try it.
