R16-300 with IR and RF Remote, Is it Possible?

I have an R16-300 receiver. I would like to use an RF remote (RC64R) and an IR remote (RC64) with the receiver if possible. Reason, RF in upstairs bedroom, IR in same room with receiver.
When I searched, one thread said it was not possible and another said there was a work around for it.
I currently have the RF remote working with the receiver.

If I can't use RF and IR on the same receiver can I use two RF remotes?

Any help or suggestions please!

yes it can, using the RF remote to put the receiver into IR mode, leave the RF remote alone, do a reset of the receiver, either through the menu or the red button in the access card compartment. Once it comes back on line, try both remotes.

Good, now never ever put the receiver back into RF mode through the menu, it will be RF only or IR only, until you reset it again. Resetting it puts into a state like it was never been in RF mode before.

this only works for R15 & R16 SD dvrs, sorry HD guys.
