Had a thunder storm come through tonight and lost signals. Checked the signals and 0s on all transponders on all sats including SWM. Came back about 5 min later. Is this normal?

If the clouds contain that much water it sure can block it completely, quite rare though. Usually, like you encountered failrly brief periods of time.

the signal meter screen in the receiver actually was correct, and wrong. You lost satellite signal, the swm screen shows the bet error rate at reception. If you have no sat signal into the swm then you get 0 for bit error rate. Try using a meter and it will show that the actuall swm channel signal strength is still there, just no satellite signal. Hope this helps.

I don't have a meter, so I can't try that... Signals are in the mid-high 90s until thunder storms, then I lose my locals, and if it's bad the whole thing.

Your SWM channels go to zero if there are no SAT signals.

You need to look at the signal strengths reported by the receiver for ALL satellites and transponders. It could be that the strengths for your locals are low.
