Receiver clock/timer a bit off.

I am loving my new UTV, once I got one that worked. I have a question, though. When I set up to record a program, it seems to start about a minute or so late so it picks up after the show starts. Or, sometimes it cuts off the last 30 secs to a minute. I have not found a way to set the internal clock so I assume that the screen clock, as well as the timing of the start/record is controlled by D*. Any suggestions?

Can you manually edit your timers to add an extra minute to the beginning? That's what I have to do with my 501 timers.
Manually changing the timers often cannot be done. If you manually add time to the start/end of a recording, you create a conflict if you are recording consecutive shows on different channels. If you are recording NBC from 8:00 to 9:00, then CBS from 9:00 to 10:00, you cannot add time to the end of the first or the start of the second recording.

The only way recorders can work accurately is if their clocks are set to the exact time. Is there a way to manually change the time clock? If you find your recordings are off by a minute, adjusting the time clock (not your recording settings) would fix the problem. If the satellite is not providing the correct time, there needs to be a way to set it yourself.
I have looked through all the on-screen settings, etc and can find nothing about setting a clock on the RCA Ultimate TV box. I would appeciate any guidance from someone who knows how to do this.
I do believe there is a setting that allows you to start a recording a few minutes early, or record later than the show's stop time. But I do believe that the real problem lies within the internal clock or D*'s timer.
What I have noticed is that two or our local stations start their shows a minute or two early - I'm sure to keep viewers from changing stations, so my UTV sometimes misses the first minute of a show. It is annoying, but I believe it is a station problem, as only two of the 130 stations have that problem, and both are local network affiliates (ABC and NBC specifically). It is only only those two stations and only in prime time.

Imagine my surprise last Thursday while watching CSI.

I was waiting for scenes from next week's episode, when I figured I'd better check to see if ER was on.

Yep. It was.

All you computer programmers out there:

If CSI = 9P - 10P .and.
ER = 10P - 11P,

How can they possibly be on simultaneously?

It happens all the time here with our NBC affiliate. I am willing to miss the first two minutes of their programs to use my PVR, it just irritates me that they start their shows early! I don't think I have ever actually seen the beginning of ER as it usually starts at 8:57 and not 9:00 like it is supposed to. I guess I could manually set the timer, but it isn't that big of a deal.
You know, It IS NBC that's my problem! Guess I'll have to deal with that, though I would still like to know if there is a way to set the internal clock on a UTV.
I notice that the on screen clock, which I assume is generated by D* and is not an internal clock, is one minute off when compared to the clock shown on local TV and the Weather Channel. D* should make sure its system clocks are correct.
