Receiver Comparison Chart

The chart at http://echostar.swiki.net/101 and http://ekb.dbstalk.com/101 finally got updated. Much of it is carried over from the previous version but still has some missing information (marked by "(--?)") and the rest could stand to be checked for accuracy.

I also need feedback from 721 owners because that column is based on what I remember reading - I haven't had a chance to play with one. Do all the common features above the chart apply, or are some of them different enough to warrant a footnote or even a new line? I will assume all the 721 features will appear in the future 921 and JVC receivers which I also assume are separate units though I wouldn't object to having a narrower chart.

When I get to the Discontinued Rcvr Chart, hopefully later this week, I will need to know what cascade combinations the 1000, 3000 and 4000 now support and whether or not these are also supported by the 2000.

Is there any benefit to maintaining a column for the 2700, 3800 and 4700?

Not really. Since now the only differences between the 2700 & 2800, 3800 & 3900 and 4700 & 4900 are the ID stickers on the back.
In terms of software, there is no difference between 2700,2800, and 3700. 3800 is the same as the 3900, and the 4700's are now 4900's. I'm not really sure what the difference between the 3700 and the 2700/2800 is now.
Missing the 508....and potentially the new 522.

Well, there really is NO difference - also when you pull up the receiver info screen on any of these models, they now ALL say 2700/2800/3700 receiver.

The same as now - NO cascades are supported by these receivers, 2000 included.

Not really, I'd just combine them, like the 3000/3500, for example.

BTW, you really should have the model 3200 on the list as well. It was like the 2000, but with the inclusion of UHF remote capability, but unlike the 4000, did NOT have timers.

BTW too, are you SURE the 4900 supports an SW21/SW64 cascade? I was under the impression that ONLY DP receivers + 6000's did this.
Rich,

The 4000 does indeed have "Twin" to SW21 cascading capability. Don't know first hand about the other two (1000, 3000). But I suspect the 1000 does too since the one I have does 32 switch checks now.

See ya
Tony
The 3500 is combined with the 3000 because it is a feat of badge engineering. Looks like I'll be doing the same with the software upgraded models but reminds me I don't have the Philips brand model numbers.

OK, need to add 508 to the 501 column header and note the increased recording capacity.

I'm a little lost on the 3200. Is that the internal (info screen) model number or the sticker on the back? I've seen it mentioned a few times but don't recall seeing it in the brochures. My old 2000 Deluxe (RIP) has UHF, its sticker model is ISD2200. Is the 3200 the one that got upgraded to a 4000 or was that something else?

As I understand it, the SW64/SW21 cascade works with receivers that have a 129 checkbox on the dish pointing screen. That triggers the extra switch checks, 50 instead of 38 or whatever, and it doesn't have to be used for 129.

Any word on release dates for the 522 and 322? Are they simply dual-tuner with discrete output versions of the 508 and 301?
reminds me I don't have the Philips brand model numbers
E*/JVC branded = Philips branded
2700 = 2060
2800 = 2800
3900 = 3261
4700 = 4016
4900 = 4261

I think this is correct. I'm taking the info from the back of a E* brochure from sears back from Spring '01
Some additions:

* 129 Functionality
* Local Channel Mapping

OK, well I did some looking in some old files & I have a memo that came out after the 3200 were out awhile. According to it, these WERE actually upgraded to 4000 status w/VCR timers/IR blaster capabilities. I actually have a customer that lives close to me that STILL has one of those "2000 UHF receivers" running - I'll stop by his place ASAP & see what the sticker on the back, as well as on the system info screen says. (I'm curious now, too)

Well, I have TWO 4900 units running right now in my house & NEITHER one has the 129 checkbox - & yes they are on the latest software revisions. You might wanna check this out again.
OK, take another look (1st link in 1st message). Both charts have been updated but there are still more question marks than I'd care to see. I left the 3900 and 4900 as being 4-sat capable though there seems to be room to question that. I also left 129 capability off but can easily add it if that slot is still going to be used even after the 110 spots are lit up.
