Receiver Lock up only on Sunday Ticket

Here is my problem that I am stumped on.

Receiver is H20-100

For the last 3 weeks, I have noticed that while watching NFL ST, my receiver locks up. It locks up so that I cannot change channels, enter anything from the remote or the front console. The only way to clear this lockup is through a reboot. Using the on/off button does not work either. Basically, the receiver is totally locked up on the current channel.

After rebooting, I am able to change channels (NFL channels) for about 5 minutes before the receiver locks up again.

Calling DTV was a real hoot. Mind you, apart from being a computer systems tech for 16 years which involved plenty of troubleshooting (this was way back before PC's were even invented) plus installing phase 1 and phase 2 dishes along with running all my own cable, DTV's "tech" service wants to send out a service tech to check my wiring and dish alignment! This despite all transponders at 90 plus, not to mention that my receiver works fine Monday thru Saturday. The "tech" said it must be my multi-switch even though I tried to explain that the problem is only repeatable on Sunday. They want to charge me for the tech call too.

The problem I am guessing has something to do with the player tracker feature. I do have Super Fan and I do use the player tracker with alerts set ON since I am in a NFL Fantasy league. This did seem to help for the 4 PM games as my receiver only locked up once, but I am still skeptical since it did lock up and I had the alerts set to OFF.

At this point, I am stumped as to what this might be. Of course, the DTV "tech" said that it could no way be related to a software upgrade even though I pressed that issue. They never tried to even help. They basically said that since the hard reboot did not fix the problem that they would have to send someone out to look at my setup, even though they set up my 5 LNB dish last spring.

The other annoying issue with my box is that after I perform the reboot, my locals do not show up in my guide for up to 24 hours. It usually takes 6 to 8 hours for my locals to show up. Of course since this is a H20 I can still get my locals though the antenna, but I have yet to run the antenna cable from my switch box. Of course, my old multiswitch could handle both my DTV and Antenna signal at the same time, but since the upgrade to the new multiswich from DTV, I cannot combine signals. This means I would have to run a second line under my house. Anyway, long story.

But I am interested in any comments as to what could possibly be the problem and whether I should just push D for a new box. Of course that means losing my OTA capabilites.

I did tell the DTV tech that the rep would have to come to my house on Sunday afternoon and watch the NFL to see if my receiver locks up since it does not happen during the week. But I thought I would pass on the 80 dollar service call until I check in here.

Any ideas? I'm all ears.

When using the interactive features, do you ever press the actual "EXIT" button on the remote to escape the interactive menus or do you instead use the appropriate "colored button" they deem to be the exit button for that interactive menu?

I usually press the colored button to exit, which I believe is the red button.

Just for Ha-Ha's last night, I buzzed all around the 700's with no problem. Of course, there was no content but I changed channels though that range with no problem.

Like I said, I can change channels all day long except on Sunday Ticket.

At this point I am running out of things to try. I guess I will see what happens this week with the alerts set to off.

Just thought I would post an update to see if anyone has a clue since it has been a few weeks since I last posted.

Yesterday was Sunday of course and you know what that means? Sunday Ticket!

True to form, my receiver locked up repeatedly all afternoon. No alerts were set to on, and each time I switched channels, I used the exit buttom to clear the menu instead of the "red" button. At last count, it was 6 reboots.

To make matters worse, my locals do not reload into my menu for over 24 hours, so any of the games that were blacked out (2 at 4:00), I could only get OTA. Luckily, my H20 still has the OTA tuner and I was able to run a cable so I could get these games.

DTV still wants me to pay for a service call even though my other non-HD receiver is working just fine.

Remember, these lockups only happen during Sunday Ticket.
