I'll answer my own question. I purchased a pocketdish av500e and was not able to play back the recordings on my achos av400 (non-pocketdish). I was able to transfer my vip622 recordings onto the av500e but the files are obviously encrypted in a format that the regular archos av400 could not read. The av500e is a bit nicer than my regular av400 but I was waiting to buy the 604 wifi when it comes out. It is very convenient to transfer several recordings via the usb. For HD, you can still record onto the pocketdish the old way but that takes awhile (realtime recording: 2 hour movie = 2 hours recording time)
record on pocketdish and playback on regular archos 400
does anyone know if it would be possible to do the fast record from a vip622 to the small pocketdish then transfer that file onto the larger non-pocketdish archos 400? I'm not sure what sceen size it is recorded in and if that would play back properly on the regular archos device.

Any talk of a WiFi version Av600e for DishNetwork coming soon?
In the Dish HD forum yesterday I started a thread about any updated versions of the PocketDish, possibly a HD version. I got a reply that the 604 would be worth looking at. However, I do not think it will record and play back in HD (eg, if I travel to my brother's place it would be nice to play a HD movie I recorded on his HDTV). The most important thing to me, however, is that I record to the PocketDish in fast time, not real time. From what you are saying, I can record a HD movie onto the AV500e in real time or are you saying I can do this with the new 604?jp2 said:I'll answer my own question.
