Record series only gets 1st and ignores rest

HR21-700 with latest software.....

Trying to set up a SL for 'Wind Tunnel with Dave Despain' on SPEEDTV (607)

Regardless of how I set it up (First Run, Repeats, Both) it only selects the first available one and ignores any future showings (even showings for next week).

Am I better off doing an 'Autorecord'?

While the 1st episode of a SL will show as being selected for recording immediately, it takes 24hrs for others to show up with the recording designation, but they should record if they air before that happens.

Not sure how long you're waiting to see when the episodes appear, but if you're expecting them immediately, be a bit patient and they will eventually appear in the To Do list.
whats it say in the history?

I've had some series links that would record the first episode and then stop recording after that for no obviously good reason (channel subscribed to, tuner available, in the to-do list). History reports "not recorded...showing is over".

Someone alluded to the fact that the 'showing is over' error was the wrong error message being reported, but I dont know if anyone ever said what the correct error was that should have been reported. I think it may have been related to late changes to the guide data.

Deleting and recreating the series link seems to fix it sometimes.
Also check the episodes list to see if they are listed as First Run or not. Go to the program in the Guide, press INFO, then select Episodes. Look at the count listed in the heading: XX First Run, NN Total.

If XX == NN, then they are all First Run. If XX == 0, then they are all repeats. Use this to determine if you want the SL setting to be "First Run", "Repeat", or "Both".

To play it safe, I'd use "Both" even without looking, and you could prune the To Do List after future programs finally start populating.

Finally, also check your default recording settings and check for conflicts. If your default settings are start 1 minute early and end 1 minute late, that's how the new SL for this series will be created.

Unfortunately, the way History works on the HR2x is that you can't see an item in the History until AFTER the scheduled recording time has passed. So if you're looking to see why a historical scheduling decision was made, for example, where it chose to not record an upcoming showing, you have to wait until AFTER that showing comes and goes to see what the historical decision was.

I'd prefer if History followed the TiVo approach ... all scheduling decisions are historicial, and therefor are available in History as soon as the decision is made, even for future showings.
I figured that maybe one of his failed recordings would have some indicator in the history to say why it didnt record any of the valid showings.
