Recorded List is GONE!!!!

My HD setup is upstairs, and I don't watch a ton of TV up there, except for football season. Last night, I went up to watch the Men's Olympic VB finals. During a commercial break, I decided to hit List, to see what I had recorded to watch. ALL OF MY SHOWS WERE GONE! Well, except for the one NFL Network recap show of Adrian Peterson's 276 yard day last season, the only show that I had denoted "Keep". I checked into the History, and all of the shows had been deleted, replaced by Olympics coverage, which was set to record, first run, up to 5 episodes. The Olympics has been recording since it began, and had deleted all of my previous stuff, and even itself, once it reached the limits set.

The not so funny thing is that I DID NOT SET THE OLYMPICS TO BE RECORDED! I am so pissed, as I had some really cool stuff on there to be watched, now gone. What is this demon DVR doing in my house!!!!

That is weird! Only "reason" I can think of is that someone pressed the "record" button twice while watching the Olympics and it set up a SL for the default SL.

Couple that with the way NBC, et. al. are blocking their shows and I can easily see how that could fill the user portion of the drive. NBC has the shows blocked at up to 8 hour increments (IIRC) and 5 of those if you are using OTA in MPEG2 could come close to filling the drive. :(

Hope you can remember some of the shows you lost and can find them on the web (although I abhor TV on a computer, personally, I will do that, in an emergency.)
I will say that recording only the NBC primetime portion of the Olympics took my DVR from 93% full to 37% full in about four days.

Same thing happened on one of my DVR's, the one in the bedroom which is the one my wife uses all the time. When she calmed down and asked me what happened, I told her she might have hit 'record' twice. (She did hit 'record' for one of the events so it likely happened that way.)

:(

Are those numbers reversed?

While I was recording for my wife, we used one DVR that had virtually nothing on it and it ate the space like crazy. Playback was quick though when we skipped all the ads and interviews. And to think I used to like Bob Costas............. !devil12:
This might be an appropriate place to mention my issue/question, which also is Olympics-based.

While watching the prime time Olympics show on NBC, I pushed "Record" once so that I could watch something else and come back to the Olympics with the ability to fast forward through the boring segments. The next day, I noticed that I had somehow acquired a series link for ALL Olympics coverage. Good thing I noticed, or it would have occupied my entire hard drive.

I then experimented: EVERY TIME I pushed Record once during the prime time show, it would create a series link for ALL Olympics showings on NBC. I could not record only the "episode" I was watching. However, if I went to the guide before the prime time Olympics, highlighted it, and pressed Record once, it would set up a recording for only that show.

I went through this at least 10 times, with the same results.

Is this a glitch, or am I misunderstanding the way the Record button is supposed to function? Is it perhaps what happened to the OP?

Maybe it’s a “feature” to enhance our enjoyment of the Olympic coverage.
I can't figure out what happened.

Some weird stuff is going on here. I just got this machine - basically "upgraded" for the Olympics. First I hooked it up to the internet and it started crashing (blank screens, frozen, etc.). After repeated denials of any known problems with networking from tech support I unplugged it from the internet and surprise no crashes since.

OK, so now I have no programs on the HR21 but the bar at the bottom says 40% available???? Where is the other 60% now that everything is deleted?

In the programs List "Movies Now & Showcases" tab there are 8 movies listed in the "Movies Now" folder. Is this where 60% of my space is being allocated? Where did these come from? I did not download or order them?

Also I am running software version 0x263 as of 8/08. What is the latest software version? The stickies for this forum only talk about 0x25? How do I have 263. I have two of these boxes the one downstairs is running 0x255 and is fine except it is very sluggish to respond to remote commands (I have seen the other threads on this topic - no interference I sit 3 feet from the box; it is waiting for the CPU as it process commands).

I am new here, but have been search through the threads here for the past few weeks. Lots of good information here. So far my impression of the HR21...it has some nice features but has more than a few bugs. I never managed to lose all my programing in the HR10 (sorry I won't go further there:) ).

What you have to do is click record on a primetime show, or wherever the "episode" was, press INFO, click on record series, click on Cancel Series, and then go back into the guide, press Record once, and it should work. This is not a glitch. What you did was cancel the episode in the Series Link, which you did not know was set up. Canceling the series as I just explained will cure this problem.

I went into the Prioritizer each time and deleted the series link. Isn't that the same thing?

Even after deleting the series link, one press of Record set up another series link.

I don't know where your 60% is, but it aint there. D* has always reserved some room on every machine for their use. The Movies Now is currently utilizing that space. You didn't do anything to get them, they're automatically, but even with them, you're remaining space should still be 100%

No, unfortunately it's not. Although it appears that it goes away after you highlight it and press "R" again or "STOP", it is only canceling the particular episode in the Series Link. I hope I'm not misunderstanding you, and vice-versa. If I'm understanding you correctly, you have to actually click select on the program in the prioritizer or guide, go to where you can choose to record the series, and then click Cancel All. Exit that and next time you want to individually record a program in the former Series Link, it should work without showing the Series Link symbol. Let me know if this works for you. :)
