Recording 2 programs - Pause one and it locked up 2 nights in a row

Not sure if there's a fix other than a reset or update, but for the second night in a row I was recording two shows. I paused the one I was watchingto put the kids to bed and when I returned it wouldn't play. The buffer bar showed a -29 and the time line was as if it was the prior show. The only way to get out of it was to stop recording, switch channels and then come back to the original channel. The result was watching the show live and missing the prior 20 minutes that had supposedly been recorded.
