I thought I was able to record the two DirecTV tuners, AND one OTA signal at the same time? When I try to do it, or to watch an OTA while recording 2 DirecTV tuners, the HR-20 won't let me saying it needs to cancel one of the other things recording. I swore I read you could do 3 with OTA?

Can't be done. The owner's manual says it can, but it is wrong.
Earl has addressed this issue in the past.

My solution was to get a second HR20 :) (see my signature for important advice!)

If this has been addressed in the past I apologize. Can I record two DTV channels and WATCH the OTA? The unit should have three independent tuners unless I am seeing something wrong.
Thanks

No. You can record/watch any combination of two OTA/sat channels at once. It's a function of decoders as well as tuners.

If your TV has its own tuner you can split your antenna line and run it into the HR-20 as well as the TV.

Where the manual may have gotten confused: you CAN watch the playback of a previously recorded program while you are recording two new ones, which is sorta in the same ballpark - - a special case of watching three things at once.

That is exactly what I was going to ask about. Thanks.
