I have an HR-21 with software 0x255.

Recently, I scheduled daily recording of "American Morning" on CNN from 3AM until 6AM. I have it set up to keep only one episode.

We watch CNN live regularly, without incident.

Every single day, the recording fails. From the recording list, I select the program. It appears with a black screen, along with message 771, indicating that no signal could be found.

I have tried this while it's recording, and it always works the same way:

If I cancel the recording, and then bring up the Guide, go to some other channel and back to CNN, it works fine. Every single time. No errors. BUt I simply cannot convince it to record the show.

Occasionally, we'll get error 771 while browsing in the guide, and rebooting always fixes the problem.

Does this sound familiar? Is there anything I can do to fix the problem?

You need to look at the message and see which tuner [#1 or #2] is giving you this. It will help to narrow down what to look at.
Thanks. WIll do that next time. Called DTV support, finally, and they're well aware of the problem. Sending out a technician tomorrow (waste of time), and we'll see where it goes from there. -- Ken

Well, do keep posting updates about it here.
"Hopefully" the tech will "remove" any doubt with your system as the cause.
