I have a Mac and I have Toast 9.0.2 program with the Blu Ray/HD DVD add on. It clearly advertises that it will record both Blu Ray and HD DVD onto standard Dual Layer blank DVD's from HD material that is recorded from a HD TIVO machine or the EyeTV from your Mac. I guess I could get the EyeTV for OTA recordings to theMac and then to a blank DVD disk using Toast but my question is what enables a HD TIVO unit to be able to do this? Does it have some type of Firewire output or is it a software issue where TIVO allows this? Do you think the 622's may allow this at some time? Would be nice to archive HD TV shows you might want to watch later on from your Blu Ray DVD player.

Can't you connect your Blu Ray to the Component or HDMI output of the receiver and record HD? Sure, it has to be full length recording time of a playback recording but it should work as far as I know. I don't have one to try out.

You'll need an analog component video capture card to get the content onto the Mac.

Until you do that, HD disc mastering capability means nothing.

The Roxio file transfer to computer offering is exclusive to TiVo DVRs and is severely limited in the scope of content that it can make available.
