Recording Problem........

2231 Views 8 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  Rich
I have been looking at other threads but haven't found the specific problem associated with my particular recording problem.

When I record a show it becomes very pixelated when we try and watch it. Only happens when watching a recorded program. The channels on TV are fine, only happens to recorded programs of this particular receiver. I have tried the unplug and re-set and it hasn't worked. Anyone have any ideas what I could do, or what could be causing this issue ?

Thanks !

Do you have WHDVR service and is the show being viewed directly connected to the HR it is stored on? Or from a remote DVR in your home?

Have you tried rebooting your DVR and see if it clears up?

And it will help if you list out your Directv equipment so others might assist.

I've got a similar problem I've gotta fix today. I'd suggest rebooting the HR twice in less than a half hour and see if that clears up the problem. If that doesn't fix it, I'm gonna put another HDD in the dock and see if that clears up the problem. If it doesn't, I'll consider the 20-700 shot and get a replacement or just send the thing back, I don't really need it.

I'm using the problematic HDD now after flushing the Guide data and I see no further pixellation problems. I can't tell you how many times on how many HRs the flushing of the Guide data has straightened out my HRs. I'll post again later and tell you if the "fix" truly worked.

I have an HR22 /100 with Slimline dish. I have tried rebooting, and it seems to have worked initially, but still have the same problem after a couple of days. How do you flush guide info and how will that help ? It only occurs on the one receiver in the living room, all others work fine. It just started doing this a couple months ago. Dont have WHDVR just trying to view from direct recording from that receiver.

Reboot twice within 30 minutes to completely flush guide data so that it all must be redownloaded. As for how it will help, I don't see how it could be related to the problem, but there are many people who have found it's cured lots of ills. There's only one way to find out ...

I don't care why or how it fixes some problems, I just know it does, sometimes. Most of the time, actually. Were I a Geek, I could probably answer your question, but, sadly, I'm not. On the other hand, I've never gotten any results from clearing the RAM, altho I do get a kick out of pressing all those buttons and getting rewarded by the message.....

The 20-700 I flushed the Guide info on yesterday was pixellating constantly and I feared my HDD was shot. Flushed the Guide and it's working well now. Go figure.

Thanks for the info guys. I will try this guide flush ans see if it cures all ills.

I watched most of the Yankees game on the 20-700 I was having pixellation problems with yesterday and saw no problems. Still, it'll take me a week or so to convince me that it's OK.
