I don't know if this is going to make you feel any better, but folks are reporting this type of problem on the thread 612 Timer/Recording Issues and beginning with Post #43 a fellow Dallas area customer is reporting the problem on his 622.
I wouldn't be surprised if it is regional. I assume that the OTA digital signals are identified in some way that Dish is trying to use to keep apart from the mapped-down sat signal. The problem i have with the theory that this is regional is that I have two 622's and two 612's. One of each is working fine while one of each is having trouble.
