Our HR20 is only a few days old and we're learning how to operate it; it is our first DVR. I'm not sure if it is operator error or not, but for some reason the red record light came on & has not shut off. As far as I can tell we shouldn't be recording anything. There's nothing in our 'to do' list that should be recording right now. There is however shows on my 'playlist' that have not yet been viewed. We've looked in the User Guide to see if we could find out why the light would be on and found nothing. Do you guys have any suggestions or ideas? Is this normal behavior? BTW, we got the new 0x104 update this morning, but not sure if that has anything to do with it.

As of previous updates, the record light was yellow. I don't see anything to indicate that it's supposed to be red. I would start with a red-button reset. It's been pretty good procedure to do a manual reset after every upgrade, even though it has reset itself.

In addition - try the old "unplug for 20 seconds and then plug back in" seems to get good responses. I haven't received any "Mail" from DTV on the HR20, is this a "You have mail." indicator?

Well I guess I've joined the 'red button reset' crew. That worked, the red record light isn't on any longer. I went back into my playlist & it shows 3 new recordings for today at about the time I noticed the red record button lite, that's odd. Anyways, thanks for the help. BTW, I checked to see if there was mail and there wasn't any.l

Good deal. Seriously, you'll read a lot here about people having problems with the HR20 - these are legitimate, and the people who post them are being honest about their experiences - but there are also a lot of people who have few or no problems, and don't post as much. Hopefully you'll have a great experience with yours. Best of luck!
