Red Zone Channel without ST

Anyone been able to get the Red Zone channel this year without getting NFL ST? Ive had it the last 2 years and was looking to get it this year.

I called a couple of weeks ago, said "cancel" at the prompt and told the rep that I had gotten Red Zone as a standalone the past two seasons. I was not interested in Sunday Ticket, but I was perfectly willing to pay a reasonable amount ($50-$100) for the channel. She checked my account and said that Red Zone was not available for sale, but she appreciated my offer to pay. She then cheerfully added it for this year free of charge.

When I called back in early July and got my deal (I stated that I was thinking of jumping to FIOS to take advantage of a bundle deal and that RZC is what I predominantly watch from ST), their initial offer was for RZC for free (and no other obligation) as a stand-alone. Then they also offered me ST for free if I was willing to do a new one-year contract. I accepted that. I didn't need ST MAX but I was aiming for ST + RZC.

I called last week to check on the status of my contract. The initial CSR transferred me (she couldn't answer the question). To which department, I'm not sure. Told him flat out I wasn't even thinking of leaving, that I should have one year left on my contract, but I just had a few things happen and I wanted to confirm my date. He did; it was correct.

Then he offered me $10 off per month for one year, tried to give me some movie channels for free for three months (I said 'no thank you') and then gave me RZ for free.

Just called for myself and for my dad yesterday. I got it added for free on the first try, both times I called. Just make sure you are speaking with someone in the retention department (say cancel at the prompt). The regular CSRs are a waste of time.

It worked for me as well. Earlier this month I tried two different times to get discounts on Sunday Ticket (FREE last year, $149 two years ago, etc). I even asked about Red Zone stand-alone. NOTHING! Told Red Zone stand-alone wasn't even an option. Anyway, I've been a DTV subscriber for over 10 years and had Sunday Ticket every year and have been getting Sunday Ticket discounts for the past 3-4 years. Today I called, said "cancel" as I always do. Told the CSR I was inquiring about Red Zone channel by itself. She added it immediately without any haggling and without a charge. She noted I had "premier package". That's it. <5 minute call.

They must have changed their stance on this. I emailed DTV a few days ago and the response was Red Zone is only available with Sunday Ticket.

FYI, my contract ends April 2014. I have Premier Package, Whole-Home DVR, Protection Plan, and 2 HD-DVRs, 2 HD boxes and currently $60 in DTV credits.

Called today. Very nice CSR. Simply asked about getting RZ Channel. She gave it to me for free for the season, and gave me a 12-month $10/mo credit. So I am getting RedZone and I'm ahead $120, just for being nice and polite. She was amazing.

Called 5 times and still no go. They keep saying only available with Sunday Ticket. I wonder if this is because Im gettting 6 months of Starz free?

Sort of irks me - I was told this was not offered standalone at all. I am more of a motorsports fan and by the time those seasons are done, there is not much football left. But I would enjoy the Red Zone channel.

Almost seems like we are penalized by having DirecTV over one of the other providers that offers the Red Zone standalone

Oh well I got my BBCA HD anyhow, though if I lose my local CBS station I will ask for this in return..

still not having any luck myself keep getting got to have sunday ticket max speech, and played csr roulette via rentention, but on a positive got show, and starz for 6 months free
but no redzone yet

Called again today and 1st rep said no, only with ST Max. Called again right after and still no go. Im giving up. I pay Directv over $110 a month and they want budge.

they asked me if i was STILL interested in NBA League Pass...since when i dropped ST i said I was gonna get NBA League Pass because I play Fantasy there and not with the NFL any more. So she said they're not taking orders yet (still not) and to call back near the start of the Basketball season for a discount..I'm like OK..

Called twice. Immediate 1st response from CSR was "we don't offer that without ST anymore," same for the 2nd CSR. Might try again, but probably won't.

Called regular customer service today. Got a friendly voice on the line. When I asked if I could get just the Red Zone channel again this year I was told no, that's only available with the full ST. The CSR offered the ST Max package for $148 (half off) but when I asked again for just the Red Zone the CSR offered the regular ST w/Red Zone for NO CHARGE provided I stay with DirecTV for the next 12 months. Hell, I've been with them nearly 20 years now -- what's one more!
