regarding locals (no, NOT when will the software download) :)

Regarding the local channels...once they are activated, will we be able to drop the DirecTV-delivered locals and still have the guide? I was wondering if anyone knew if this would work, perhaps from experience with the HR10.

thanks!

When OTA is activated, it is independent of the Locals in your package.
So yes, if you want, you can drop the local package.
Thanks Earl...I was kind of curious that if the locals didn't show up in my guide, then where would the OTA channels get their guide from?

OTA Guide data is part of the overal guide data stream you get from DirecTV.

Even though you are not allowed to receive the Locals say from Chicago...
Your Box does receive the guide data for Chicago, just knows not to show it on your screen and filters it out.
